Water Softener
resin is used to soften water.
It can be regenerated with either
potassium chloride or sodium chloride. Typically it
requires about 10% more salt to
regenerate with potassium
chloride salt when compared to
sodium chloride salt. The
advantage of potassium salt is
that it does not contribute to a
high sodium diet and the
backwash can be discharges onto
a lawn or garden. Sodium
chloride salt will kill plants
so it must be discharged into a
sewer system salt and remove
iron levels up to 4 p.p.m. It
can be regenerated at 8, 12 and 15 lbs per ft3 salt dosages.

QUEST® Support
gravel, is the lower strata of a
filter bed, and acts to support the
filter medium. The maximum
efficiency, the support gravel
must possess the necessary
attributes of hardness and be
rounded or non-angular. Correct
gradation and sizing must be
calculated to properly support
the filter media.
We
recommend that you purchase it from local hardware store due to high shipping
cost.

CRYSTAL QUEST® CQA
certified. iron oxide based
selective resin media is
a nano-particle based
selective resin designed to
remove arsenic (arsenate and
arsenite) from water.
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQA
combines a unique chemistry
based on hydrous iron oxide
nanoparticles that have a very
high affinity for arsenic with
a durable, non-friable,
spherical polymer substrate.
This ideal combination of
selectivity and substrate
durability means that
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQA
can effortlessly remove
arsenic by using a lead-lag or
parallel design configuration.

CQ-N250
is a macroporous strong base anion
resin which is specially designed
for the removal of nitrates from
water for potable processes. The macroporous matrix and special ion
exchange group functionality imparts
ideal nitrate selectivity to
CRYSTAL QUEST®
CQ-N250 making this resin
particularly suitable for nitrate
removal even when moderate to high
concentrations of sulphate are
present. Hence this resin gives
superior performance in nitrate
removal applications when compared
with standard exchange resins.

CRYSTAL QUEST®
CQ-Ca
is a naturally occurring
calcium carbonate media. One
of the advantages of CRYSTAL QUEST®
CQ-Ca
is its self-limiting property.
When properly applied, it
corrects pH only enough to
reach a non-corrosive
equilibrium. It does not
overcorrect under normal
conditions. Upon contact with
CRYSTAL QUEST®
CQ-Ca,
acidic waters slowly dissolve
the calcium carbonate to raise
the pH which reduces the
potential leaching of copper,
lead and other metals found in
typical plumbing systems.
Periodic backwashing will
prevent packing, reclassify
the bed and maintain high
service rates. Depending on
pH, water chemistry and
service flow, the Calcite bed
will have to be periodically
replenished as the CRYSTAL QUEST®
CQ-Ca
is depleted.
As the CRYSTAL QUEST®
CQ-Ca’s
calcium
carbonate
neutralizes
the water,
it will
increase
hardness and
a softener
may become
necessary
after the
neutralizing
filter.

CRYSTAL QUEST®
CQ-IGS
is formulated from a
glauconite green sand which is
capable of reducing iron,
manganese and hydrogen sulfide
from water through oxidation
and filtration. Soluble iron
and manganese are oxidized and
precipitated by contact with
higher oxides of manganese on
the
CQ-IGS
granules. The hydrogen sulfide
is reduced by oxidation to an
insoluble sulfur precipitate.
Precipitates are then filtered
and removed by backwashing.
When the oxidizing capacity
power of the
CQ-IGS
bed is exhausted, the bed has
to be regenerated with a weak
potassium permanganate (KMnO4)
solution, thus restoring the
oxidizing capacity of the bed.
1½ to 2 ounces of potassium
permanganate, in solution, per
cubic foot of
CQ-IGS
is considered sufficient for
normal regeneration. It is
required to vigorously
backwash and regenerate the
bed when it is placed in
service and before its
oxidation capacity is totally
exhausted. Operating the bed
after oxidation capacity is
exhausted will reduce its
service life and may cause
staining.

CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR is an
efficient and economical media for the reduction of dissolved iron and manganese
compounds from raw water supplies. It may be used in either gravity fed or
pressurized water treatment systems.
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR acts as
an insoluble catalyst to enhance the reaction between dissolved oxygen (D.O.)
and the iron com pounds. In ground waters the dissolved iron is usually in the
ferrous bicarbonate state due to the excess of free carbon dioxide and is not
filterable.
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR, acting
as a catalyst between the oxygen and the soluble iron compounds, enhances the
oxidation reaction of Fe++ to Fe+++ and produces ferric hydroxide which
precipitates and may be easily filtered. The physical characteristics of
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR provide
an excellent filter media which is easily cleaned by backwashing to remove the
precipitant.
CRYSTAL QUEST® CQ-BR is not
consumed in the iron removal operation and therefore offers a tremendous
economic advantage over many other iron removal methods.
