Commercial & Industrial Granular Activated Carbon Water Filters

Commercial Granulated Activated Carbon

Crystal Quest® Commercial Granular Activated Carbon Filters are designed and manufactured for outstanding service, ideal for filtering chlorines, organics, chloramines, colors, odors, trihalomethanes (THMs), and VOC's. Units are sometimes referred to as activated carbon or coal filters, carbon absorbers, coconut shell filters, organic traps, carbon towers or purifiers.

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) is a highly adsorbent material used to remove contamination from water. Activated carbon has been known as a miracle filter media by many researchers because of its unique ability to remove offensive tastes, odors, color, chlorine and volatile organic chemicals, pesticides and trihalomethanes (a group of suspected carcinogens). Briefly, activated carbon acts like a sponge, with a large surface area to absorb contaminants in the water. The surface area of one pound of activated carbon is equal to 125 acres. Many scientists believe this is a result of an affinity that these chemicals have for carbon because of Van Der Waal forces. Activated carbon is the preferred treatment and method recommended by the EPA to remove a host of potentially hazardous and possibly carcinogenic chemicals in drinking water.

Crystal Quest® Commercial Granular Activated Carbon Filters are a cost-efficient and reliable method for removing chlorine and organics from your feed water. They can also be used to remove: chloramines, colors, odors, trihalomethanes (THMs), tastes and VOCs.

GAC Systems however, don't contain our 2 types of Eagle Redox Alloys®, which help in preventing bacteria growth. If you would like to upgrade to SMART Filters, click here
