Water Travels Through Multiple Stages of Filtration
Stage 1: Coconut Based 5-Micron Carbon Block
Water flows through a premium, solid carbon filter cartridge for removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs), insecticides, pesticides, industrial solvents, and more. Coconut Based 5-Micron Carbon Block Filter Cartridge Crystal Quest® 5-Micron Carbon Block Cartridges are manufactured from an acid-washed coconut-carbon based formulation. Better tasting water is produced as carbon is used to its maximum advantage in minimizing pH levels while maintaining a low-pressure drop.
Stage 2 and 3: Ultrafiltration (UF) Membrane
Ultrafiltration (UF) is an important purification technology used for the production of high-purity water. UF is effective for the removal of colloids, proteins, bacteria, viruses, parasites protozoa, and pyrogens, (e.g., gram-negative bacterial endotoxins), and other organic molecules larger than 0.01 Micron size and most other water contaminations known today. Also removes pesticides and herbicides, as well as the hardness in water and some salt.

Ultrapure is used to describe water that meets strict limits on the following: biological organisms (such as pyrogens, bacteria or viruses), organic carbon, dissolved and suspended solids, and dissolved gases. Ultra-pure water is typically required in electronics, optical, and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes also Spot-free washing of motor vehicles, windows, solar panels, reefkeeping and rinsing or plating operations and more.
Ultrapure water is also used in dialysis, research, and medical applications. Water must meet strict purity standards in order to be considered ultrapure. Ultrapure water standards are established and published by several standards-setting organizations, such as: AAMI, USP, ASTM, ANSI, CAP, ISO 3696, and NCCLS.
The ASTM, NCCLS, and ISO 3696 classify purified water as Type I, Type II, or Type III, with Type III being the least purified and Type I being the purest water. All these organizations have very similar parameters for classifying purified water into these three types. The purpose of classifying pure water into different types is to ensure that the right purity level is achieved for specific applications. Some lab and medical processes require higher-grade water purity than others do; thus, these classifications were developed to ensure that the right water purification level is used for any given application.
In addition to producing different water purity levels, our ultrapure water systems can be customized to accommodate various flow rates. Furthermore, many of our ultrapure systems allow regular monitoring and maintenance, without the need to take the system completely offline.
