Installation Instructions for NV45B4FE1T Vertical Pump
-
Preparation:
- Inspect the pump and motor for any damage during shipping. Report damage immediately to the carrier or dealer.
- Ensure the installation site is level, stable, and provides adequate ventilation for service and cooling.
- Check that the pump model matches the system specifications.
-
Mounting the Pump:
- Secure the pump base to a flat, solid surface to prevent vibration during operation.
- Align and support suction and discharge piping to avoid excessive strain on the pump.
- Install isolation valves on both the suction and discharge sides to facilitate maintenance.
-
Piping Connections:
- Ensure piping matches the pump’s flanged connections (1.25” ANSI 150#).
- Install gaskets to prevent leaks; ensure they do not restrict flow.
- Remove protective covers or caps from the flanges before installation.
- For hot water applications, install a bleed valve to relieve pressure during maintenance.
-
Electrical Connection:
- Have a certified electrician verify that the power supply matches the pump’s motor specifications (3 HP, TEFC).
- Ensure the motor is correctly wired, and check for counterclockwise rotation when viewed from the motor’s rear.
- For three-phase motors, reverse any two leads if the rotation is incorrect.
-
Priming the Pump:
- Remove the fill plug and use a funnel to fill the pump casing with water.
- Open the vent plug to allow air to escape as the pump fills with water.
- Re-seal the vent plug and fill plug once a steady stream of water flows from the vent.
-
Initial Testing:
- Open the suction valve fully and partially open the discharge valve.
- Apply power to the motor and check for smooth operation without unusual noise or vibration.
- Gradually open the discharge valve to the desired operating condition.
-
Safety Precautions:
- Never operate the pump without water to prevent damage to internal components.
- Always replace coupling guards after installation to prevent injuries.
- Ensure the pump is properly grounded and free of leaks before starting.
