Attention California Residents:
California Proposition 65 is known as The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. To comply with this California Act, even chemicals used within the limits of national regulations and found not hazardous in the quantities associated with the product may require a warning just because the chemical is present. Information about Proposition 65 and this warning are available on the website of the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) maintained by the State of California. http://www.oehha.org/prop65.html. Arsenic in GAC
California requires the following notice:
WARNING: Some GAC contains arsenic, components also may leach chemicals, which known to the State of California, can cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
For the highest level of assurance that leaching of any type is not occurring a laboratory water test would be recommended.
Some coal-based carbon, when extracted from mines, contains Arsenic, which is a natural geological occurrence.
