From your morning coffee to the last shower of the day, find the benefits that matter to you and the treatment behind them.

Enjoy the flavor in your cup. Carbon filtration at the main line reduces chlorine and chloramine that can affect water's taste and smell.

Reduce chlorine and chloramine before water reaches the shower, for a gentler feel on skin and hair.

A salt-free conditioner helps limit scale buildup. A softener removes the hardness minerals behind it. Match the choice to your water.

Treat the iron behind orange stains before it reaches your laundry, sinks and tubs. Metal removal media targets iron and manganese.

Oxidizing media targets the hydrogen sulfide behind a rotten egg smell, so you can enjoy fresher smelling water at the tap.

PFAS do not announce themselves through taste or smell. A water test helps you choose filtration, including SMART or reverse osmosis, to reduce them.

Lead removal media targets lead in the water entering your home. A water test helps identify the right treatment for your supply.

A sediment prefilter catches sand, silt and dirt before they reach your taps, helping protect the filtration stages that follow.

Cartridge systems include the Compact SMART from $240.35 and Big Blue SMART from $536.25, and media tanks include Guardian from $1,186.00 and our SMART tank from $1,791.00. High Flow starts at $2,275.00 for 1 to 3 bathrooms, or $3,364.00 for 4 or more. Whole house reverse osmosis starts at $2,227.00 for the RO unit on its own. For a whole home we pair it with the 220 gallon storage kit, from $5,024.00 at 750 GPD, sized up for larger households. Flow rate, media and add-ons set the final price, and installation by your plumber is a separate cost.
If you want filtered water all through the house, yes. One system where the main line enters your home treats it all at once, so the chlorine smell leaves the shower and sediment stays out of your water heater. If you only care about drinking water, an under sink filter may be all you need.
The best system is the one matched to your water. For most city homes that is our SMART system, with a sediment prefilter, the SMART multimedia tank and a carbon block, and a carbon blend that handles both chlorine and chloramine. On a private well, start with a water test and our well water systems.
There are a few honest ones. You pay upfront for the system and its installation, it needs floor or wall space near your main line, and cartridges or media need changing on schedule. Size it too small and pressure can drop, and a filter on its own does not soften hard water.
Three steps. Know your source, city water or a private well. Find out what is in it from your water report or a test, then count your bathrooms, because that sets the flow you need. Have a report? Our water report analyzer reads it for you, and our guide on how to choose a whole house water filter walks the whole decision.
Size by flow rate, not square footage. Cartridge systems deliver 2 to 8 gallons per minute for 1 to 3 people, media tanks deliver 9 to 13 GPM for 1 to 3 bathrooms, or up to 4 with the 2.0 cubic foot tank, and High Flow runs 15 to 35 GPM for the busiest homes. Not sure? A specialist can size it from your bathroom count in a quick call.
Not when it is sized for your home. Pressure drops come from a system that is too small for your peak demand, or from a cartridge that is past its change date. Match the flow rating to your bathrooms, change cartridges on time, and your pressure holds.
Mini and Compact cartridges typically last about 12 to 24 months, often around a year and a half. Big Blue cartridges can last closer to 24 to 30 months, or 2 to 2.5 years. Sediment prefilters are generally about 12 to 24 months. Cartridge life depends on feed water conditions and usage; replace sooner if you notice any change in taste or odor. Tank media lasts 5 to 7 years in a 1.5 cubic foot tank or 7 to 10 years in a 2.0, specialty ion exchange media 3 to 5 years and softener resin 10 to 15. Replacement cartridges come in standard sizes.
It goes on the main water line where it enters your home, after the meter or the well pressure tank, usually with a bypass valve. Handy owners often install cartridge systems themselves; tank systems are usually a job for a licensed plumber. Our install guide walks through it, and our team can talk your installer through the setup.
A filter reduces contaminants such as chlorine, sediment and metals, but it does not soften water. For scale on city water, start with a salt-free conditioner: no salt, no drain and no power. On a well, or with hardness of 7 grains per gallon or more, choose a water softener. SMART can be ordered with either one.
Yes, when the media matches your well. Iron, manganese, sulfur, tannins and acidic water each need their own treatment, and bacteria calls for a UV stage after filtration, or chlorine dosing ahead of it for higher counts. Test first, then see our well water filtration systems, built for exactly this.
It depends on the media inside. Sediment stages catch sand, silt and rust, and our carbon blends reduce the taste and smell of chlorine and chloramine. Specialty media target iron, arsenic, fluoride and more, and for forever chemicals see our PFAS water filters. No single filter removes everything, which is why we match the system to your water.
