Corrosion Check Instructions
Sampling Instructions - Please Read Before Starting
Step 1
After the blue ice pack has been in your freezer for at least 8 hours, you can collect your water sample from an appropriate water faucet or spigot. If the spout has a strainer or aerator, remove it prior to sampling
Step 2
Samples must be shipped the same day they are collected via guaranteed next day delivery and must be collected after 1:00 p.m. EST to minimize time in transit. Do not collect and/ or ship your samples on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or the day before a National Holiday.
Fill all of the bottles, without rinsing as they may contain preservative necessary to ensure accurate results.
First Draw Bottle - First thing in the morning after the water has been sitting in the pipes overnight or at least 6 hours, youwill need to fill the bottle labeled "First Draw" sample. Before you use any water from the tap, fill thesample bottle marked first draw as soon as you turn on the tap and cap securely.
Flush Bottle - Let the water run for 3-5 minutes and then fill the bottle marked "Flush" completely and cap securely.
Unlabeled Bottle - Finally, fill the last bottle completely and cap securely. Return all 3 bottles to the cooler.
Step 3A
Complete the enclosed lab form, making sure to indicate the collection date and time you sampled, type of water, and sample identification (e.g. kitchen sink, well head, etc.) Return the blue ice pack to the kit and place the kit back in the cardboard box with the completed lab form.
Step 3B
Make arrangements to ship the kit by guaranteed next day delivery [or drop the kit off at our laboratory within 24 hours of collection, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm] to the following address:
National Testing Laboratories
