Uranium Water Test
Tests your Well or Private Spring Water for Uranium
Uranium is a naturally occurring element and is considered to be mildly radioactive. Present in most soils at low levels but can be much higher in certain rock formations such as bedrock. This test will help you determine if Uranium is in your water.
Important: To ensure accurate results, the water sample must be returned via Next Day shipping. Return shipping is not included.

What is Uranium and why it might be a concern?
Uranium is a naturally occurring metal found in certain rocks and soils. As groundwater flows through these materials, uranium can dissolve and enter private wells or other underground water supplies. Because it is colorless, tasteless, and odorless in water, it cannot be detected without testing.
Why it matters: Drinking water with elevated levels of uranium may increase the risk of kidney damage over time. Unlike many other metals, uranium primarily affects kidney function rather than building up in the bones or soft tissues. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has set a Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) of 30 micrograms per liter (µg/L) for uranium in public drinking water systems to help protect health.
Testing ensures your water is safe before problems arise. Our kits include simple, step-by-step instructions for easy use at home.

Step 1
After the blue ice pack has been in your freezer for at least 8 hours, you can collect your water sample from an appropriate water faucet or spigot. If the spout has a strainer or aerator, remove it prior to sampling
Step 2
Samples must be shipped the same day they are collected via guaranteed next day delivery
and must be collected after 1:00 p.m. EST to minimize time in transit. Do not collect and/
or ship your samples on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or the day before a National Holiday.
Run the cold water for approximately 3-5 minutes, then adjust the flow to a thin stream
to avoidsplashing or overfilling.
Fill the bottle to the neck, cap securely.
Step 3A
Complete the enclosed lab form, making sure to indicate the collection date and time you sampled, type of water, and sample identification (e.g. kitchen sink, well head, etc.) Return the blue ice pack to the kit and place the kit back in the cardboard box with the completed lab form.
Step 3B
Make arrangements to ship the kit by guaranteed next day delivery [or drop the kit off at our laboratory within 24 hours of collection, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm] to the following address:
National Testing Laboratories
556 South Mansfield Street
Ypsilanti, MI 48197
If we do not receive your sample within 24 hours of sample collection or if you have not provided the date and time of collection, the bacteria results will be marked INVALID!
